Course Outline
Module 1: Microsoft Teams Administration Overview
Introduction to the Teams administrator role and its core responsibilities. Overview of management tools including the Teams Admin Center and PowerShell. Explanation of how Teams operates within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and the key tasks involved in planning, deploying, configuring, and managing the platform.
Module 2: Teams Governance and Lifecycle Management
Setting up governance and lifecycle management policies for Microsoft Teams. Configuring team creation policies, naming conventions, expiration policies, and archiving options. Working with Microsoft 365 Groups alongside Teams and planning the full lifecycle of a team from initial creation through deletion.
Module 3: Security and Compliance in Microsoft Teams
Implementing security and compliance controls within Teams, including sensitivity labels, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, and retention policies. Configuring information barriers, communication compliance, and eDiscovery to satisfy organizational governance and regulatory obligations.
Module 4: Access Management for Microsoft Teams
Configuring user access, external access, and guest access within Microsoft Teams. Managing identity and authentication settings such as multi-factor authentication and conditional access policies. Defining how internal and external users can interact within Teams environments.
Module 5: Chat, Teams, Channels, and Apps Administration
Managing chat settings, Teams and channel policies, and messaging policies. Configuring app permission policies and app setup policies to control application availability for users. Creating and managing org-wide teams and private channels.
Module 6: Meetings and Virtual Events
Configuring meeting policies, meeting settings, and live event policies in Microsoft Teams. Managing audio conferencing, meeting room devices, and Teams Rooms deployments. Planning and administering virtual events, including webinars and large-audience live events.
Module 7: Teams Phone and Voice Configuration
Planning and deploying Teams Phone (formerly Phone System), including calling plans, direct routing, and operator connect options. Configuring voice features such as dial plans, call queues, auto attendants, and emergency calling policies for enterprise voice environments.
Module 8: Network Configuration and Teams Monitoring
Reviewing network requirements for Teams deployments, including bandwidth planning, Quality of Service (QoS), and network readiness assessment. Using the Teams Admin Center, call analytics, the call quality dashboard, and Microsoft 365 usage reports to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the Teams environment.
