Cisco Class Information

Levels of Cisco IT Certification

Cisco offers four levels of general IT certification: Entry, Associate (CCNA), Professional (CCNP), and Expert (CCIE). Various tracks are available so you can match your certification path to your job role or industry.

The credentials most requested by our students are outlined below. For other credentials and paths visit the Cisco web site.

Cisco Certified CCNA

Achieving CCNA certification is the first step in preparing for a career in IT technologies. To earn CCNA certification you pass one (1) exam that covers a broad range of fundamentals for IT careers, based on the latest networking technologies, software development skills, and job roles.

The current CCNA program prepares you for today’s associate-level job roles in IT technologies. CCNA now includes security and automation and programmability. It replaced the prior CCNA Cloud, CCNA Collaboration, CCNA Data Center, CCNA Industrial, CCDA, CCNA Routing and Switching, CCNA Security, CCNA Service Provider, and CCNA Wireless tracks.

Authorized Course

Implementing and Administering Cisco Solutions (CCNA) 1.0 — instructor-led, hands-on training.

Certification Exam

200-301 Implementing and Administering Cisco Solutions (CCNA)

Authorized Cisco certification exams are available through Pearson Vue. Students schedule their exams directly with Pearson Vue.

Recertification

CCNA certification is valid for three years. To recertify a CCNA needs to do one (1) of the following:

• Pass any one Associate exam
• Pass any one professional concentration exam
• Pass one technology core exam
• Pass one CCIE lab exam
• Earn 30 Continuing Education (CE) credits

It is your responsibility to recertify on time. Cisco does not provide extensions. Individuals with expired certifications must repeat the entire certification exam process in order to regain their certification status.

CCNP Enterprise

CCNP Enterprise includes automation and programmability to help you scale your networking infrastructure. The current CCNP Enterprise certification replaced the prior CCNP Routing and Switching, CCNP Wireless, and CCDP certifications.

Each exam passed in the CCNP Enterprise program earns an individual Specialist certification, so you get recognized for your accomplishments along the way.

There are no formal prerequisites for CCNP Enterprise, but you should have a very good understanding of the exam topics before attempting the exam. CCNP candidates often also have three to five years of experience implementing enterprise networking solutions.

To earn CCNP Enterprise certification you must pass the Core exam PLUS one (1) enterprise Concentration exam.

Authorized Courses

Implementing Cisco Enterprise Network Core Technologies (ENCOR) — instructor-led, hands-on training. Plus one (1) of the following for the Concentration requirement:

• Implementing Cisco Enterprise Advanced Routing and Services (for exam 300-410)
• Implementing Cisco SD-WAN Solutions (for exam 300-415)
• Designing Cisco Enterprise Networks (for exam 300-420)
• Designing Cisco Enterprise Wireless Networks (for exam 300-425)
• Implementing Cisco Enterprise Wireless Networks (for exam 300-430)
• Implementing Automation for Cisco Enterprise Solutions (for exam 300-435)

Certification Exams

Core: 350-401 ENCOR. Plus one Concentration exam (300-410, 300-415, 300-420, 300-425, 300-430, or 300-435).

Recertification

CCNP Enterprise certification is valid for three years. To recertify, do one of the following: pass one technology core exam, pass two professional concentration exams, pass one CCIE lab exam, pass one professional concentration exam PLUS earn 40 CE credits, or earn 80 Continuing Education (CE) credits.

CCNP Data Center

CCNP Data Center prepares you for today’s professional-level job roles in data center technologies. It includes automation and programmability to help you scale your data center infrastructure.

Every exam passed in the CCNP Data Center program earns an individual Specialist certification.

To earn CCNP Data Center certification you must pass the Core exam PLUS one (1) Concentration exam.

Authorized Courses

Implementing and Operating Cisco Data Center Core Technologies (DCCOR) — instructor-led, hands-on training. Plus one (1) of the following Concentration courses:

• Designing Cisco Data Center Infrastructure (DCID, exam 300-610)
• Troubleshooting Cisco Data Center Infrastructure (DCIT, exam 300-615)
• Implementing Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (DCACI, exam 300-620)
• Configuring Cisco MDS 9000 Series Switches (DCMDS, exam 300-625)
• Implementing Automation for Cisco Data Center Solutions (DCAUI, exam 300-635)

Certification Exams

Core: 350-601 DCCOR. Plus one Concentration exam from the list above.

Recertification

CCNP Data Center certification is valid for three years; recertify with one professional core exam, two professional concentration exams, one CCIE lab exam, one concentration exam plus 40 CE credits, or 80 CE credits.

CCNP Security

The CCNP Security certification program prepares you for today’s professional-level job roles in security technologies. CCNP validates the core knowledge you need while giving you the flexibility to choose a focus area.

Every exam passed in the CCNP Security program earns an individual Specialist certification.

To earn CCNP Security certification you must pass the Core exam PLUS one (1) Concentration exam.

Implementing and Operating Cisco Security Core Technologies (SCOR) — instructor-led, hands-on training. Plus one (1) of the following Concentration courses:

• Securing Networks with Cisco Firepower (exam 300-710)
• Implementing and Configuring Cisco Identity Services Engine (SISE, exam 300-715)
• Securing Email with Cisco Email Security Appliance (SESA, exam 300-720)
• Securing the Web with Cisco Web Security Appliance (SWSA, exam 300-725)
• Implementing Secure Solutions with Virtual Private Networks (SVPN, exam 300-730)
• Implementing Automation for Cisco Security Solutions (SAUTO, exam 300-735)

Certification Exams

Core: 350-701 SCOR. Plus one Concentration exam from the list above.

Recertification

CCNP Security certification is valid for three years; recertify with one professional core exam, two professional concentration exams, one CCIE lab exam, one concentration exam plus 40 CE credits, or 80 CE credits.

CCNP Collaboration

The CCNP Collaboration certification program prepares you for today’s professional-level job roles in collaboration technologies. It includes automation and programmability to help you scale your collaboration infrastructure.

Every exam passed in the CCNP Collaboration program earns an individual Specialist certification.

To earn CCNP Collaboration certification you must pass the Core exam PLUS one (1) Concentration exam.

Suggested Prerequisite

Understanding Cisco Collaboration Foundations (CLFNDU) — instructor-led, hands-on training. Provides the fundamental knowledge needed to take CCNP Collaboration certification courses.

Authorized Courses

350-801 Implementing and Operating Cisco Collaboration Core Technologies (CLCOR) — instructor-led, hands-on training. Plus one (1) of the following Concentration courses:

• Implementing Cisco Collaboration Applications (CLICA, exam 300-810)
• Implementing Cisco Advanced Call Control and Mobility Services (CLACCM, exam 300-815)
• Implementing Cisco Collaboration Cloud and Edge Solutions (CLCEI, exam 300-820)
• Implementing Automation for Cisco Collaboration Solutions (CLAUTO, exam 300-835)

Certification Exams

Core: 350-801 CLCOR. Plus one Concentration exam from the list above.

Recertification

CCNP Collaboration certification is valid for three years; recertify with one professional core exam, two professional concentration exams, one CCIE lab exam, one concentration exam plus 40 CE credits, or 80 CE credits.

Cisco Learning Credits Accepted Here

The Code Academy can redeem Cisco Learning Credits for instructor-led training through our partnership with Skyline ATS (a Cisco Learning Solutions Partner). Learning Credits debits must be approved or auto-approved by your company’s Team Captain prior to registering. Each credit pays for $100 (US) worth of training. We can accept credits for full or partial payments. Cisco Learning Credits are valid for one year and may be redeemed individually. (Not applicable for self-study, on-demand format.)
