What is WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA)?
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is a federally funded employment and training program distributed through CareerSource Florida designed to advance today’s workforce by connecting workers and job seekers with career training opportunities and access to high-quality jobs.
What educational opportunities are available through WIOA?
Individuals interested in training for a new career may be eligible for assistance through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Available services are based on need determination and include; tuition assistance (up to $12,000 per program), books allowance, uniforms/supplies and vocational guidance.
How do I know if I am eligible?
In order to be eligible for the services listed above, you must fall into one of the following categories:
Dislocated Worker – Individuals who have been recently laid off or received notification of upcoming layoff. CLICK HERE to see additional details to determine if you fall into this category.
WIOA Adult – Individuals between the ages of 18-72 who do not meet the criteria for WIOA Youth or a Dislocated Worker. Must be unemployed or employed at or below 200 percent of the Lower Living Standard Income Level (LLSIL), according to family size. Call to see if you qualify 1-800-482-2233.
Are there any WIOA Eligible Programs at The Academy?
YES! At the Academy, we offer eligible courses that you can complete 100% In-person or Online, whenever, and wherever convenient. The most popular programs are Cybersecurity, Full Stack Web Developer, Business Analyst, Cloud and Network Security and Project Management Professional. The WIOA application process takes several weeks, so please do not delay in getting started. Once WIOA grant approval is awarded, contact our Student Services for a Letter of Acceptance.
