Learning Objectives
  • Explain the CMMC levels and the four rollout phases, including Phase 2
  • Decide whether your contracts involve FCI, CUI or both
  • Understand how scoping drives cost and effort
  • Read a self-assessment score and know what a POA&M can and cannot cover
  • Build a realistic plan, budget and timeline toward assessment
Course Outline
Module 1: CMMC in Plain Terms

The three levels, the four phases and what Phase 2 means for bids from 10 November 2026.

Module 2: FCI, CUI and Your Contracts

Who CMMC applies to: contractors and subcontractors that process, store or transmit Federal Contract Information (FCI) or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Flow-down to subcontractors.

Module 3: The 110 Requirements at a Glance

The 14 families of NIST SP 800-171 Revision 2, and which ones need investment rather than paperwork.

Module 4: Scope, Score and POA&M

Scoping with the five asset categories; how an assessment is scored out of 110, with 5, 3 or 1 point deducted for each requirement not met; when a Plan of Action and Milestones is allowed only if the score is at least 80% of the maximum, only for lower-value requirements, and it must be closed within 180 days.

Module 5: Planning Your Path

Roles, budget, timeline, choosing a C3PAO, the reassessment every three years and an affirmation every year, and keeping the record in SPRS. CMMC status has to be posted in the Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS).
