The N10-009 exam has up to 90 questions and lasts 90 minutes. It covers:

Prerequisites
There is no required prerequisite. CompTIA recommends: CompTIA A+ certification, with 9 to 12 months of hands-on experience in a junior network administrator or network support technician role.

1. Networking concepts (23%)
- OSI model layers, common ports and protocols, and traffic types
- Network appliances, cabling, connectors and topologies
- Cloud networking concepts and IPv4 addressing/subnetting
2. Network implementation (20%)
- Routing (static, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and NAT
- Switching: VLANs, spanning tree and interface settings
- Wireless setup and physical installation factors such as power and environment
3. Network operations (19%)
- Network documentation, life-cycle, change and configuration management
- Monitoring with SNMP, flow data, packet capture and logs
- Disaster recovery and core services such as DHCP, DNS and NTP
4. Network security (14%)
- Logical and physical security, including encryption, PKI, MFA and access control
- Common network attacks such as DDoS, ARP/DNS spoofing and evil twin
- Hardening, NAC, ACLs and network segmentation
5. Network troubleshooting (24%)
- Follow the step-by-step troubleshooting method
- Fix cabling, interface, switching, routing and addressing problems
- Diagnose performance issues with analyzers, command-line tools and cable testers
