Prerequisites

  • AZ-104T00 – Microsoft Azure Administrator
  • Familiarity with security concepts and industry practices such as defense in depth, least-privilege access, role-based access control, multi-factor authentication, shared responsibility, and the zero trust model
  • Working knowledge of security protocols including VPNs, IPSec, SSL, and disk and data encryption methods
  • Some hands-on experience deploying workloads in Azure
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems and scripting; course labs may involve PowerShell and the CLI

Course Outline
Module 1: Identity and Access Security

This module covers how to secure identities and control access in Azure. Topics include configuring Azure Active Directory, enabling multi-factor authentication, managing role-based access control (RBAC), defining access scopes, and enforcing least-privilege principles across subscriptions and resource groups.

Module 2: Platform Protection

This module addresses security at the Azure platform infrastructure level. Topics include securing virtual networks, configuring network security groups, setting up Azure Firewall and DDoS protection, and applying security controls to compute resources and container workloads.

Module 3: Data and Application Security

This module focuses on protecting data and applications in Azure. Topics include configuring storage security, working with Azure Key Vault, managing encryption for data at rest and in transit, and applying security controls to Azure App Service and related application platforms.

Module 4: Security Operations

This module covers day-to-day security operations in Azure. Topics include configuring Microsoft Defender for Cloud, managing security alerts and policies, investigating threats, applying security baselines, using Azure Sentinel for SIEM functionality, and remediating vulnerabilities across the environment.
