Course Outline
Module 1: Enhancing Table Usability
Set up lookup fields within a table; use subdatasheets to view related records directly within a table.
Module 2: Building Advanced Queries
Use query joins to pull data from multiple tables; write subqueries for nested data retrieval; apply aggregate functions to summarize data.
Module 3: Refining Form Presentation
Use conditional formatting to draw attention to key values; organize complex forms using tab pages, subforms, and other controls.
Module 4: Developing Advanced Reports
Apply advanced formatting options to reports; include calculated fields to derive additional values; manage pagination and print settings for clean output.
Module 5: Working with External Table Data
Import and link data from outside sources; export data for use in or sharing with other applications.
Module 6: Using Queries for Data Management
Build action queries to insert, update, delete, or append records; use unmatched and duplicate queries to locate data inconsistencies.
Module 7: Building Complex Reports and Forms
Embed subreports within a main report; create a navigation form to provide a structured user interface; display detail records using subforms and popup forms.
Module 8: Automating Tasks with Access Macros
Build a standalone macro to handle repetitive tasks; create a macro tied to a user interface element; use conditions to filter records; write a data macro that responds to table-level events.
Module 9: Extending Functionality with VBA
Learn the basics of VBA for writing custom code in Access; connect VBA to form controls to enable event-driven, dynamic behavior.
Module 10: Database Administration and Maintenance
Back up a database to prevent data loss; manage settings related to database performance, security, and general maintenance.
